I’ve spent much of 2022 reflecting on what it means to be a good husband, brother, son, uncle, friend, citizen, leader, and ancestor, and how that intersects with who I am and where I’ve been.
It’s an evolving project, to be sure. Life always is. But I’ve come to conclusions that are good enough for starting a new chapter.
The biggest change is in how I spend my time and what I say yes to.
I plan to spend more time connecting the dots, illuminating under-reported perspectives, nurturing relationships, and building bridges with a long view. I plan to spend less time on short term projects and reacting to the latest symptoms.
Already I’ve begun living this out in small ways, and for sure it will take practice and sustained intention.
But there you have it. This is where I’ve landed, half a year after I shared that I was stepping back to reflect.
Thank you all for being a part of this journey with me. It’s an honor to be a part of your journey.
I’m hopeful for our uncertain future because I know we’re on this journey together.
